Last night I swung by the Thevenard Sports Club for their first Friday night teas since completing their new renos the day prior.
When I first walked through the door I felt that the space was bigger and brighter and I searched for something to explain that, but I couldn’t see a wall that had been removed, or anything like that. I started chatting to a couple of members at the bar and it was decided that the new paint work had taken the space from the darker coloured brown and into this new lighter, airier feel creating the perception of more space and openness.
As I moved around talking to the diners it was agreed that Buzzy’s Enterprises had done a great job on the paintwork and had indeed achieved a spacious feel, and as I took my photos for this blog, I’m sure that the windows seemed bigger and brighter, and the green of the oval, providing the backdrop, appeared greener than ever. All this light and green is great for the club but not so great for some of my photos. Apologies!
Some of the clubs footballers volunteered to help carpet layer, Bradley Dawes (Dog Shark), lay the new-look floor and with committee approval, Dom Denton organised the new bar tables and stools and yet more volunteers answered the call from Terry Moschos to help put the tables together and get them set up in time for last nights meals.
The feedback was all positive from last nights diners, in regards to both the new look and the meals, however; if you’re scanning the photos for a stickybeak on the new look, well … you’re just going to have to pop along to the club for a drink or a meal and go and see that for yourself.
Why not pop along to the club for teas? Make it a regular Friday night date! The sign outside says teas are available from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays, and on that point I invite the Thevy club, and any local clubs, to add their meals and any local events that are open to the public (meaning including the tourists who use our website) to our brand new calendar by simply filling out this form.
